The Classical Music Novice
Any D-Composed show is a good entry point to classical music. However, our Black Composers 101 series will give you the perfect introduction to Black composers spanning decades from as early as the 1700s to the present day.
We’ll get you started by guaranteeing you’ll learn about at least 5 Black composers. There’s no judgment if you are new to classical music; most of our audience comprises this group!
-
The Culture-Seeking Parent
We understand that parents look to heighten their children’s cultural awareness through various culturally enriching experiences. If that’s you, you’ll love Family Edition, which serves as an entry point for the music of Black composers for youth and their families.
We have Musical Story Time for the toddler-age child, which features a Black composer’s original composition to a children’s book. It’s story time with a twist!
-
The Lover of Words
We know that many in our audience are avid readers and admirers of the written word, so we’ve created D-Composition to amplify the voices of poets and literary greats with the music of Black composers.
For the younger future avid readers, we have a Musical Story Time.
-
The Arts Curious
If you are curious about the arts in all its forms, any of our programs will pique your interest.
However, if you find museums and galleries intimidating, you’ll want to look out for our collaborations with museums and galleries. We use the music of Black composers to tell a musical story around an artist’s work.

The Mindfulness Seeker
While music is primarily used for entertainment, we also know that it has the power to heal.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of your life and the stressors that come with it, we’ve created D-Compressed to provide a space for healing and reflection for our community. If you need an experience where you can just be, then you’ll enjoy D-Compressed.
