Gateways Music Festival Chamber Music Showcase

The History Gateways Music Festival returned to Chicago for its residency and invited D-Composed to perform in its chamber music showcase. For the program, D-Composed presented its acclaimed production, D-Composition x Love Is…, which pairs the works of Black composers with poetry by Black authors.

The various definitions and themes surrounding Love were explored, with larger-than-life archival home movie projects from the South Side Home Movie Project setting the scene.

Featured poets included Diamond Sharp, Krista Franklin, avery r. young, Davon Clark, Raych Jackson, and Shanta Nurullah.

The D-Composed ensemble comprised Caitlin Edwards on violin, Khelsey Zarraga on violin, Wilfred Farquharson on violin, and Tahirah Whittington on cello.
