A Musical Story Time: The Year We Learned to Fly
We returned with our Musical Story Time series for another mini-library tour with visits to Woodson Regional Library and Beverly Library.
This year we featured The Year We Learned to Fly by Jacqueline Woodson with an original score by Ahmed Al Abaca performed by our string trio with narration by Mama Edie.
After the kids learned how to fly through the dynamic reading by Mama Edie, they also took part in a Q&A with the musicians and Ahmed, the composer.
It was an afternoon of music, storytelling, and a lesson in flying.
Featured musicians were Khelsey Zarraga on violin, Seth Pae on viola, and Tahirah Whittington on cello.
A Musical Story Time was supported by the Chicago Community Trust's Young Leaders Fund.
