MCA Soundtrack: Prisoner of Love

In collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, D-Composed closed out the inaugural Soundtrack series.

In this series, local artists are invited to create a setlist inspired by the museum’s exhibitions. D-Composed was the only live music act for the series and the only ones to feature a performance that took place within the gallery.

D-Composed chose to curate a special performance within the Prisoner of Love exhibition. Much of repertoire was directly inspired by themes and messages from the exhibitions anchor work, Arthur Jafa’s “Love is the Message. The Message is Death”

The quartet played a medley of songs ranging from classical to modern songs. The audience were able to hear selections from composers such as Florence Price, Carlos Simon and pop songs from Solange and Lizzo.

The featured quartet comprised of Caitlin Edwards on violin, Kyle Dickson on violin, Danielle Taylor on viola, and Tahirah Whittington on cello. All music arrangements were created by Danielle Taylor.
